Hello Gypsie76 !
To put it mildly, Muscat and Dubai are like chalk and cheese !
Muscat has its own old-world charm while Dubai is fast and furious(although the tempo has considerably slowed down, post the global economic downturn which hit Dubai rather badly).
Muscat is quiet and mellow. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why Muscat was not too adversely affected when things took a turn for the worse some 3-4 years back.
Social life is predominantly limited to very close-knit groups of people hailing from similar / common nationalities more than anything else. Unlike in a place like Dubai, inter-cultural or inter-racial mixing and socialising is very rare and are few and far between.
And lastly, I've not seen or heard anything advertised in the local publications about Gymnastics classes here.
Best wishes !

I totally agree with Mr.Sumitran

Hi ,
Thank you for your reply .
I am not agree with you , Dubai is not fast and furious , we had a busy but great time here. We have met lots of people and personally I don't just hang out with people of the same nationality than me because it doesnt mean you have best time and friendship I prefer meeting foreigners even in my own country . So in Oman or not Oman I won't change my way of meeting people.
I am finding very sad you can not do any gymnastic for kids and I  am still convirnce it must exist as it is impossible they still need to do some sports?!!
It s all depend of expectation and what is important for the children but maybe you don't have any children yourself so you are not aware of this king of thing .

Regards

I believe that there is a gymnastics club that operates at the British School in Muscat (britishschoolmuscat.com.  One of my daughter's friends goes there after school, one evening a week.

There are also other activities such as Guides , Ballet and Music classes held around Muscat which your daughter could get involved with.

I do not think you need to be a pupil at the British School to attend the gymnastics classes.

You might find this website useful too:- liveworkexplore.com/oman/activities/sports_and_activities/kids-activities.

By the way if you need a hair cut I recommend Benjamintanhair.com !

Hi sqazi,

I would suggest you to start a new topic on the Muscat forum or post an advert in the Muscat classifieds > accommodation section.

Thank you.

Hi Gypsie76
Nice to see you in forum. Actually, I can give you some important information which can help you to understand Oman.
1. Accommodation Cost in Muscat: 2 BHK (275 OMR to 350 OMR), 3 BHK (350 OMR to 450 OMR), Villa (starts from 450 OMR to almost 1000 OMR or more.)
2. About People: Omani people are very friendly and they respect foreigners.
3. About Weather: Winter (Starts from Late October till February with mai temp 16 and maximum 30 deg cel), Summer temperature can goes upto 52.
4. Hangout: Can visit lots of places in Oman. But mostly are yellow unless Salalah which is the only green part in GCC.
5. Food: Food cost is not that much. At home for 4 member family need 200 OMR/month.
6. Car: Can have nice cars with minimum cost, but costly then Dubai.
7. Frequently Visit: Full of sea beach.
8. Schooling: There are some good English Medium Schools. So, it will not be a issue for your kids.
9. Driving License: If you have Dubai one, then your life is safe. Other wise its really painful to get the driving license here.
10. Best location to stay: Alkhuwair, MSQ, Qurum, Azaiba, Gubrah and Mawallah in Muscat.
11. Comparison with Dubai: Not Luxury, Quite Place, Friendly Environment as Omani's are really good.

For any more information can reply here.

Thank you for your help ...
Unfortunately it did not work for me I went back to Dubai but Oman is very peaceful , it s no stress at all and refreshing . The kids liked it ....
