I am looking for a female personal care assistant, as I am a spinally injured wheelchair user based in the Glasgow. Scotland I require a person that can work 3 days a week in general day to be confirmed. Hours 10am-6pm although can vary.
Also 3 sleep overs a week. Consider splitting job.
The hourly rate is £8 per hour day rate and 35 per shift for sleep over. Rate of pay for sleep over currently under review with the Government agencies who fund the post. The ability to cover holiday and sick days of colleagues is essential.
Must have a high level of spoken English
Personal Assistant Tasks:
Include assistance with some or all of the following:
Getting in and/or out of bed
Washing and bathing
Attention to hair, skin, nails, feet, etc
Transferring in and out of wheelchair/bed (hoist in place to assist)
Assistance to turn in bed
Assistance getting to hospital and GP appointments
Escorting/ to community activities/work
Assistance with shopping/ cooking
Cleaning home / laundry/ironing
Any other tasks appropriate to the job, as directed
Personal Assistant Qualities:
Understand and ability to promoting independence
Knowledge of administering personal centred care
Willingness to learn the job and undergo relevant training
Responsible in carrying out tasks to a high standard.
Personal Assistant responsibilities:
Give notice if likely to be more than 10 minutes late
Communicate and discuss any problems that arise with employer
Keep working relationship confidential, including the assistance provided
Respecting and treating possessions with care

Discretion and integrity are paramount as is the ability to work on your own initiative or under guidance. Must be open minded and comfortable as will be assisting with personal care e.g. showering, bathing, dressing etc, as well as domestic tasks and cooking .
The ideal candidate, though it’s not necessary, would have experience of intimate personal hygiene and care routines. What is essential is that they are highly reliable and that they can work to a high standard and, sometimes, tight deadlines.
Must have an honest, reliable and flexible attitude towards life and work and be willing to offer an empathic client centred approach. Applicants need patience, energy, to be calm, able to use their own initiative and to possess a good sense of humour! Respect for my individuality, privacy and choices are paramount.
