I was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. I went to a Bangladeshi school here till grade 5! My parents decided to enroll me in an English medium school, if I am not mistaken it was somewhere at Al-Ruasifa area. I was till until I finished my Grade 7.

My uncle made my aunt, who was from South Africa, during the umrah season sometime during the mid 90s. In 2001, my uncle told me to come over to South Africa for "a better/quality education". There was a shortage of good schools here then.

So at the age of 11, I decided to go to South Africa all by myself. I boarded a Saudi Airlines flight to Johannesburg. The only person/thing I missed on the plane was my cat, he was abandoned by his mother.

I only went with one heavy jacket. I was told, it gets extremely cold there, little did I know. I landed in Johannesburg around 10 o' clock in the morning - 2001 august. I have never felt such extreme cold before, it was extremely cold.

My aunt and uncle stayed an hour away from the airport. Even though I was tired from the flight, the scenic view kept me up and in awe. There were greenery everywhere, so beautiful and luscious. Growing up here I only saw vast rocky mountains and the occasional date palm tree.

The first week It was all dreamy, i had arrived in South Africa, I will be starting school here. I was nervous but I had more guts then I do now :-) .

My uncle was a very outgoing person, We went out every weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The last week with him we were on our way back from Johannesburg after having an awesome day, we had a world class meal, visited friends, checked out the casino (not gambling), just went to arcade to play some game.

On way our way back a drunk driver had come on to our lane and collided with us and BAMMMM! we were in an accident....it had only been a month, My uncle passed away, my aunt was pregnant, but the airbag (by the will of Allah) saved her, my uncles friend who sat behind me and next to me, was critical with a badly broken leg, and I got away with minor fractures, and the car that drove into us, was burning right in-front of my eyesTO BE COntinued

This your story looks very similar to one that of a Nigerian Prince that got stranded in Congo with his parents and siblings died. But I will bite and hope you continue with the story.

Cheers

continuation...

even though every one thought I should return to my parents, leave South Africa. I decided to Stay with my aunt. I helped her run her business for a year, as she was pregnant. After she gave birth to a little girl, I enrolled myself in a school.

I have seen girls without veil (or any covering) for the first time and everyone looked so pretty to me. According to my friends many girls liked me, but I couldn't pick up on the hints lol. Nevertheless, I embarked on a journey that I never expected I would.

Every Tuesday I would go to movies with my friends, as Tuesday's the cinema tickets were discounted, we payed about 10 Rands. We would shoot pool after movies. I would look forward to the days to go out with friends, I would dress up  to impress the ladies, eat out, shoot some pool and hang out.

I became very good freinds with Two African freinds, one of them had decided to leave the school, to join a well reputed boys only school. I was so close to him, I couldn't bear the thoughts of leaving my friend, I decided to apply with no hopes of getting accepted, as my English and Afrikaans were quite weak at the time. Lo and behold, I get accepted before my friend do. I decided to leave the school with all the beautiful ladies and go to potchefstroom school for boys for a better education, I had become friends with students from all different races, korean, Whites, blacks, Indians but I was the only muslim guy in my class. So we would get into religous debates often. My school stories deserve couple of pages of its own.

I finshed my High School (Grade 12) with merits and I enrolled myself into a IT institution to learn web development in pretoria. I bought myself a car so I could travel from potchefstroom to pretoria, and from home to campus. This is me in a big city by myself, venturing out to fullfill the big dream of becoming an iT professional.

I moved in a with a long forgotten friend in centurion, pretoria, who i got in contact with just before I finished my school. I spent the year in centurion, then I moved to valhalla as my friend got a job and left for Johannesburg. That's where I met my crazy neighbor who introduced me to a lot of military folks. All young boys and girls sitting around partying, nothing to do! Interesting bunch of people.
