A longer term visa

Hi,

I've been in Guatemala, but I want to know about residency.

Can someone refer me to an abogado who will walk me through it.

It depends on your age. There are two major steps. Temporary residence and permanent residence. You should go to immigration in Guatemala City and talk to them. They are very pleasant and helpful.  You must do the temporary first and then wait for a couple of years before doing the permanent. The steps are the same.

We are pensionados so we could skip the temporary part. You need a immigration migratory form, validation of passport, Criminal background check from your home country and proof of income. The last two must be Apostilléd and officially translated into Spanish. You must submit the paperwork within 6 months of starting.
