Vietnam suspends a few nationalities from VISA application

COVID-19 is a global problem not only in Vietnam.
Many countries already restricted entry and closed borders.
Vietnam now only allow people from safe countries with visa obtained from departing countries' consulate/embassy.
VOA letter issued before also now difficult to enter. Heard send back someone to India before landing in Vietnam.
People who obtained any kind of visa should double check before they start to travel. It's not a good time to go up and down.
Please don't be panic but keep calm and follow instructions for your safety and others!
There are many ways to die. Why should we die in a terrible stage with COVID-19 and spread to others?
So all we need is personal hygiene and patience which will save you and others from spreading!

Luckily, in Vietnam, we don't have such situation.
Vietnam government is trying maximum not to spread for more people while many people rushing to come here for work/tour!
Revenue from tourism is not greater than citizens' or residents' life!
So wait some more time before jump!

I hope you have good insurance or are covered for treatment if you do get unlucky.

Could set you back around 5k USD (hearsay) and their Government won't cover it.

Above may be the official policy but you will still likely get blacklisted.  That's where the $3000-$4000 fee to get off the black list comes into play.

Regarding VEC, new rule as of today:

People who are exempt from a visa will be required to submit documents proving they have tested negative for COVID-19 issued by an authorized agency and accepted by Vietnam in order to enter the Southeast Asian country.

The same rule will be applied to those who possess visa exemption certificates, which are issued for overseas Vietnamese and their family members, and to special cases, namely specialists, business managers, and skilled workers.

You don't need to take a 'border run' to extend the visa. You can do it inside Vietnam during this COVID-19 situation.
If you go immigration office, it's cheap but agents are ripping off !

Unfortunately some offices wont do it unless you use an agent. This is the case in Ba Ria.

Do a search on this forum and you will see several posters who have been blacklisted.

Have no doubt that it is always possible to find an exception to the rule on any post. Can only speak from personal experience, which to me at least is far more valuable than some of the stuff that crops up on here.

I suppose we could do the same with your posts on Corona virus, you haven't experienced it,so we could take those posts in the same way.

I can give you the phone number of a guy who has been doing visas in Vietnam for 15 years, he is an expat, so communication is no problem. He can tell you of a blacklist case that he just handled. I will await your reply.

Hey, do you know if it's possible to extend a tourist visa in HCMC in person due to the Coronavirus? I was trying to hide out and get some work done and just realized the world is apparently ending.

I emailed a couple of agents I've dealt with before to get info, but if I can do it in person at the VN immigration office that'd be better. Finding clear info is nearly impossible online. I had planned to do a month in BKK before coming back here, but it looks like Thailand is about ready to shut down its borders as well. I'm from the US and hoping to stay in Asia for the next few months until sanity hopefully begins to seep back in. Cheers.

If you trust the VOA agent and the extension is possible, you can do the extension through email/WhatsApp with any equipped agent in the country.

so basically they want us to leave. my only option is to apply for a one month visa extension from within vietnam. I think I can do that twice. but what happens in two months from now when the numbers explode? then I will be forced to leave when there are no flights and i have no where to go in the USA and won't be able to get supplies.

I did not say it was illegal, it isn't.
But with a few on here claiming to know everything there is to know about everything then there is little point explaining. The only way I know for sure that saves a great deal of money is a process I have almost completed which I will relay to the guy asking for advice.
