Cost of Living in Saudi Arabia in 2020

Hi everyone,

Every year, we invite expats who are living in Saudi Arabia to share their experience and tell us more about the average price of products and services in their town, city or area, so that we can help future expats planning to settle in Saudi Arabia.
We would like to thank you in advance for your contribution.

Regarding accommodation, how much does it cost to rent or buy an apartment or a house in Saudi Arabia?

How much do you pay on average for public transport (bus, subway, train, tram, taxi)?
How much does it cost to fill up your car's fuel tank?

Concerning your food expenses : how much do you pay for basic food items such as rice, bread, and pasta? What is the average price of your monthly food shopping?

How much does it cost to have health insurance? How much for a health specialist's consultation in Saudi Arabia?

How much does childcare cost on average per month? What about school fees?

How much do you pay for electricity, gas, water, internet, mobile's subscription etc., per month?

How much do you spend on leisure in Saudi Arabia (cinema, sport, etc)?

Feel free to add any other daily expenses that you have in mind.

Thank you for sharing,

Loïc

7- The cinema ticket starts from 70 riyals. There are some yards for playing sports. Free squares for running and walking
8- Internet subscription for the phone, there are packages starting from approximately 150 riyals per month
9- There are some breaks in the desert if you want to live the wild atmosphere one night, starting from 250 riyals. This is rare if you do it

1- For Renting it depends upon the location. Normally in Riyadh you can get a house of three beds in SAR 20 to 26k.

Hi, Hope all of you are having great day, well it seems a nice topic to discuss and helping fellows to know better about most important facts:

Regarding accommodation, you can easily rent a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment ranges between SAR 15000 to 18000 Year at Jeddah, if you compare jeddah with other cities in the kingdom you will find jeddah a bit expensive?

Your own transportation is most important to have if you are living in any part of the kingdom as petrol prices are still cheap and you can easily fill up your fuel tank in SAR 60 if you are having a economical sedan like Sunny, Corolla, or accent which are the best options at the beginning. For taxi the shortest trip could cost you 10 - 15 SAR local taxi whether uber and careem can cost more. Public transportation buses are available only for limited routes.

For monthly groceries can cost you up to 800 - 1500 for a bachelor, if you are eating at restaurant the average price of 1 time meal either lunch r dinner can range between 15 - 50.

Childcare cost for the child ages between 0.5 to 2 years is 500 - 650.

Electricity bill for a 2 bedroom apartment is average 250 SAR.

My pleasure to be part of this questionnaire.
1- The accommodation costs about 500 SAR per room in average and it usually depends on the location.
2- Buying an apartment or a house in Saudi Arabia starts from 300K SAR for an apartment and 600K for a house and they also depend on the location and type of the real estate.
3- Although I hear that public transportation is way cheaper than owing a vehicle, I honestly don't use public transportation cuz I drive my own car which only costs me about 500 SAR fuel per month and it also rely on the type of the car and how many cylinders it contain.

4- I think 1000-1500 SAR is more than enough to eat good daily meals.

5- Health insurance costs more than 2500 SAR per person annually.

6- children day care costs between 1000 to 1500 SAR per child monthly.

Electricity usually costs more in summer than in winter, water costs about 30 to 50 SAR per month, internet depends on the data and speed (350 SAR for a good and fast line) mobile's subscription costs about 150 SAR included internet data and unlimited calls and messages.

I usually spend 300 to 500 SAR per weekend on leisure in Saudi Arabia (cinema, sport, etc)?

For further assistance feel free to contact me.

All the best
