I must disagree with you hammersfan on point one - we are not on the bill as the owner and its still in the landlords name plus it goes to him...but we are named occupiers and consumers but we did prove our residency and tax status...we do however pay the bill ourselves via the web portal and we get the full eco discounts too......but in fairness our landlord did everything for us including everything that was his responsibility - all we did was complete and sign the forms (number of consumers etc) other wise you can land yourself with a quite hefty deposit bill (in excess of 400euros) with being considered as a new "owner / occupier / consumer. and to date we have been here in this property nearly two years now - no issues or problems.

the rest i agree with in principle and to be safe that you have as much info as you may need....

maybe they treat the malti differently LOL...mind you he is quite well known on the north of the island.....not that that should make a difference

That's great if it worked for you that way - all I can say is that isn't what we were told by Enemalta and then WSC very recently. Sounds like you have a very helpful Landlord!

One thing - if you've been there 2 years I think maybe they changed the rules since then...I am not 100% sure, but I believe January 2010 when new tariffs were introduced they also changed the eligibility...maybe you got lucky or got grandfathered in?

I hear what your saying hammers..but we have always been lucky with our landlords and the billing....maybe eligibilty has changed - but I dont think so as we had to add to the consumers last september and the same thing occured - we did it exactly the same way...

Just lucky maybe...

what you are saying is perfectly true but not always appropriate if you can find a willing landlord you can beat the system (if only a little - i call a 466 euro win a good one)

best of luck in the championship next season by the way - believe me i know what it feels like - just hope the irons are as lucky

Reading what's now posted on the ARMS website (https://www.smartutilities.com.mt) it seems to confirm what you are saying. All I can say is that isn't how it was explained to us  in person at the Enemalta and WSC offices - but this is Malta, so nothing surprising there! Either way, the result is the same, just an extra form for us I suppose (and a deposit, but maybe you had to pay that to your Landlord also).

Thanks for pointing it out - I wish you had been posting on this site earlier, might have saved us some time, trouble and more importantly some Euros!

no nothing paid to my landlord either...we did think we would have to pay that deposit...but as our landlord did all the work and we are both quite happy to have the bills still in his name with us as named consumer occupiers... as long as we got the eco discounts and the correct tariffs we werent and still arent bothered by it....he is quite knowledgable in this regard............. lucky or what. i do admit 100% to having probably the best landlord on the island....
