I`m moving to Thailand shortly and want to buy a second hand car,what are the procedures for getting the car registered in my name and getting insurance and any other information regarding this would be appreciated. I`m lead to believe if I buy through a car yard there is tax to be paid,if I buy through a car yard do they organise the transfer of registration and can insurance

You need bank acount best one is Kungsri, mine on your acount , you will get ATM Card can use for transfer & pick up money if you buy in Pattaya or any other place in Thailan after contract and payment to your seller if private you go with him to ministery of transport to make Car book on your name ,for Pattaya it is in Chomburi ,my advice is to take all risk insurance in Bangkok it is half price from Pattaya insurance company due to robbing farang...
If you buy from Car dealer they will do all for you...
All car dealers are cheaper in Bangkok
