Dentistry and costs

Can y'all tell me about the costs and about the dentist down in Panama?
I need a few inplants and was wondering about the doctors and the costs per implant
I've heard about the costs from Mexico and Costa Rica, But I'd like to know about what people are truly paying for this procedure and the cost per each.
Thanks in advance for all the replies

Implants are even less expensive in Columbia. Be sure to get referrals for Dentists in Panama or Columbia. I have seen several complaints about the dentists in Panama concerning major procedures like implants. Medical trades in Panama do not require Malpractice Insurance and therefore you are not likely to have any recourse if you feel that the procedures you have done are less than satisfactory. Plus the libel laws are very different, so if you complain publicly, you may be sued for libel and you will likely lose.

I know a dentist in Bogota Colombia who has perforned a surgery on my mother. If you wish i can give his phone number.

charlie garcia in downtown panama is the only dentist i would trust for implants ,, about half the cost of stateside but much higher than colombia . i have been told ,, charlie finished mine 18 years ago that i had started in the usa ,, twice mine have come loose same side but he has charged the absolute min to repair the problem ,, is on balboa above the Continental airline office . or was good luck

Hi
Yes I'd like the number please
We hadn't planned on a trip to Colombia until things settled down down there with the Venezuela, problem....but if we could get this done there at better pricing then here in the states then it might be a better thing to just go.
The dentist here want WAY too much money for what I need done.
(Pull 4 teeth make a full bottom denture, or something along those lines)
I had a dentist that when I asked for implants, the 1st thing he did was make a denture when I complained he started to do the job I had asked for. After 4 years and ten thousand dollars I got 7 implements and just the front row of teeth. So I'll NEVER go back and tell people here “Don't ever go to Bella Dental!” The have to send stuff to New York to have the teeth made then wait to get them back. I'm so unhappy with dentist here in Georgia
When I go talk to other dentists here they tell me NOT to pull out the few teeth I have, all I want is to have teeth to eat with, so for now I'm useing my front teeth to chew with.... and then they tell me that's not good eather... so I'm at a no win place, but can't afford 1500.00 per implant
Sorry to be running off at the mouth... it's just that I'm fustian point
So thank you for sending me the number of your dentist

Forget about all those other countries!  Instead plan a trip to Medellin, Colombia, and go straight to the Las Vegas clinic in Sector 6.   My fiancee' and I had dental work done there (two full mouth sets of x-rays, 7 fillings between us and he had a 1.5 hour cleaning to get rid of an infection), total about $200.   Go there in person first to make an appointment, buy a 'membership' to the clinic for $10 or $20.  Then go back 2 or 3 days later and enjoy a 20% discount on the work you are having done.  Implant s are I believe about $700 to $1000 tops.   The bldg. is full of doctors that cater to medical tourists and it has a very good and reasonable restaurant for lunch and a very nice spot for coffee.   If you go to Medellin you must set aside a few days and head up to Guatape (sp?), site of natural wonders millions of years old.   I found it absolutely stunning, tranquil and more photogenic than the grand canyon.  We got really lucky on Craigslist and found a 3 bedroom/2 bath apt. in El Poblado with amazing views from the 24th floor for $600.  The owner also knew an expat Colombian/American taxi driver who picked us up at the airport and whose brother was a dentist!   Personally, I had very bad experiences with the dentists in Coronado, Panama!   One refused to do a cleaning if I did not agree to have an onlay done on a certain tooth.   I was in pain before he even began because he was leaning his 325 lbs. on my jaw, and banging my tooth with a hammer.   Tried another clinic which was above the Super99, where almost all the gringos go to.   Got a bad cleaning, then told me the tooth was loose and they recommended to just pull the tooth ($2000+ a separate fee for an anesthesiologist).   Turns out pulling out the tooth and getting an implant is what they recommend to everyone for everything.  At that point, I got the name of the Las Vegas clinic in Medellin and they told me to email them my x-ray.   They decided they could not determine what treatment was needed and told me to come in person.   Since I was dying to go to Medellin anyway, it was a no-brainer.
The dentist there saw it as a very small cavity and filled it in literally less than 5 minutes.   You can probably just write to the Las Vegas Clinic in Medellin online and ask them how much an implant is.

Thank you for the information

Take a look at oralaser.com.co.   Click on the flag and the whole thing is in clear English.

Yes, either Colombia or Costa Rica better than Panama.......Not that there are not a few good and qualified dentists in Panama City or David, but only a few and they charge American level prices more or less........Jehova Clinic in San Jose does mini implants starting at $400......Im told even less in Medellin.......or Bogota......I had a full upper bridge made in San Jose for $1600.....13 tooth bridge printed out on a 3D holographic printer.......Thats about $130 per tooth...........I consider that a very good deal....Can provide name andnumber if desired.....

i have my medical insurance in colombia ,, full coverage for 31 a month and have taken advantage of it ,, i  to am disappointed with panamanian doctors and service as a rule ,, but there are a few exceptions ,, a great urologist , speaks good english and was 36 bucks with my discount ,, got a finger wave and consultation i was impressed with him ,, and charlie garcia my dentist has been taking care of me for 18 years now panama city ,  right he is not cheap ,, but cheap is not always the best ,, as for costa rica i was disappointed in their service and condition of the clinic ..

Can you share the name of the provider that you are using? Im in Colombia now, and investigating living options......are you in the Medellin area or another part of Colombia?

i'd reserach the detist and the dentistry before so you avoid some scenarios that you wouldn't wish

I wouldn't go to Panama.  One dentist told me I had a tooth that was loose and I should have it pulled.  (Her husband was in the implant business by the way).  Draw your own conclusions.  Everyone I knew who went to that office wound up needing implants.  Did not listen.  Saw another dentist in the gringo area of Coronado.  He kept banging my tooth with a hammer, refused to take an x-ray
and refused to clean my teeth unless I agreed to do a crown and pay for it that day.

My husband and I went to Colombia where they spent almost 2 hours cleaning out his gums, filled 5 cavities, did 2 fillings for me, full set of dental x-rays and cleaning for both of us.   Total bill was $200.  (Ask for a discount on your first trip there).    It is called Clinics Las Vegas, it has a mini-hospital and all kinds of specialists and foreign patients there.  We were treated very very well and professionally.  The clinic is in sector six and you can even send them x-rays via email for a consultation first (free).  If I was in Colombia again would not hesitate to return .  The clinic even had two very nice restaurants in it.  Clinical Las Vegas is located in El Poblado, Sector 6.  I strongly recommend going to Colombia or Mexico NOT PANAMA!!!

I just went thru a nightmare in David Panama getting implants at the Halprin Clinic. i was told he did implants and got a quote. i got there and another guy was there that actually did the implants. all was good at that point. when i went back for the impressions i was told i had two choices, come back in 3 months or get the crowns somewhere else. i was past my visa. he told me i had to pay for a little bag of implant parts and if i didnt give him another  $1,000 he would call police. He told me all us rich white gringos came to panama and took advantage  of the people. he said your in panama now and the police will take you to jail. i paid and went to another dentist there. they new him but were afraid of slander lawsuits. they said i didnt have all the parts but there should have been no charge as they are part of  the implant. A friend called him to try to resolve the issue and he said he had  the rest of the parts but to bring  cash. we then got hold of the manufacture of the parts in Argentina and were told the picture i sent of the parts i had were not the right parts and where did i get them. i gave them Halperns name and they  told me he was not authorized to install their implants. when i told him of the other guy who did the surgery they told me this was a   scam. Now they are investigating both doctors. they have invited me to come to Argentina and get the work finished in the school where they teach dentists how to implant their teeth. i guess someday i will get my teeth. in the meantime i am filing suit against Halpern and his clinic. i don't know about other work, he speaks english and seemed very nice at first but ill let you decide if you want to risk your money to a Gringo Hater.

@GinnyP cost around $1,600 to $1,800 per mplant in Panama Miriam Rodriquez in David is very nice, minimal english. Cheapest and good work in Argentina about $400. per

@pharvey55

i advise to everyone to NOT HO TO PANAMA, it is what they say; Panama for Panamenians!!! It is expensive, unsafe and very corrupt country
