Working remotely from Tunis

Hi there,

I am a French entrepreneur specialising in business strategy and innovation and living in London. I will move to Tunis early September with the aim to develop new projects there. I will also certainly keep on working remotely / online for my current company as well as other activities (copywriting, teaching...).

I'd be happy to get your thoughts and advice on my plans, and especially:

- Should I create a (individual) company in Tunisia or keep on working/invoicing through my UK sole tradership for the work done online/remotely?
- Is it easy to get paid from abroad on a Tunisian account? Or should I better get paid on a French or UK account? If so, is it easy to transfer money from foreign accounts to a Tunisian account?

Many thanks for your replies, really look forward to it!
Cheers,

Florence

Hi
My only thought really itoward all your strategies and endeavors is using a foreign catalyst when it comes to commodities I.e money...
You can work from Tunisia experiment with ur new life style but keep your assets and cash flow through in my case an American bank..and transfer it as you go. The fees are minimal..
I am a bit concern about your residence status and your ability to open a Tunisian bank account in dinars????
Wish u the best,

Regards,
Olivier zitoun

Hi Olivier,

Thank you very much for the reply and advice. I also need to make sure that I can keep on invoicing as a sole trader without being a UK resident anymore. Still some research to do ;)

All the best,

Florence

My bad,

Where u from?
Concerning lodging. The ( banlieue bord )

Hi There
To help you better, here is how I do:  After having lived in CANADA a few decades, I retired, in Tunisia, But i do like i'am still  living in canada, I only withdraw my pension every month, using The automatic teller of the Tunisian bank UBCI I. I  withdraw the maximum 800 Tunisian dinars every time, my Canadian bank charges me 2 euros fees per transaction. In short I do not transfer anything, everything is as it is, it's less complicated believe me or not?.... If you need more info do not hesitate.

Heydaro,
You are right.

Awesome.

Oz.

Sorry for the misspel....

Hi there,

Many thanks for the reply and advice.
I should definitely need more info once there, stay in touch then!

All the best,

Florence

I say keep working remotely and keep your finances out of Tunisia. Use a VPN to maintain your IP address in your home country to also avoid any possibility of being accused of working in Tunisia and not paying the high taxes here. The only benefit here is low cost of basic life, if you find yourself getting tired of living hard and start to spend on eating in fancy places or eating imports you will start to lose the profit margin.
