Dealing with homesickness in Zambia

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Zambia can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Zambia? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Yes,
Without any further "ado"...
I have to suggest the following :
- Remember the life you left and who you are - said you are in prison , and live in that time...
- However - the above is "the baseline coping" mechanism ONLY (!)
As you MUST enquire about the life of local people(!)
- the next step, - is to allow the influx of your New Homeland / Place into your being ...
- I do not really have any nostalgy as such anymore (!)
I do not live in Zambia however ...

Hi Priscilla,
Where are you from?
I'm Zambian and lived in the States for 5 yrs and went through a deppression, cause I was homesick.
It's a culture shock, let's meet and talk it over, xxx
