Dear All,

I am new to this wonderful site and i need some support . I do highly appreciate any feedback.

I have applied for a job in Libya , and my company have applied for the work permit. They send me an email showing the Visa Reference Number , it is a five digit number. And now i have to contact the Libyan Embassy at my home to get the work permit.

I have contacted the Libyan embassy in my home and they informed me that

1- They did not receive such Visa Reference Number Telex from Libya.

2- They do not have any idea how long it takes to receive such information after been issued from Libya.

3- Also the embassy informed me that the 5 digit reference number is wrong , it should be only 4 digits.

Can anyone give me more detailed information about the above three points.

I do highly appreciate and quick feedback.

Regards

Gernademan

Just wait untill the guys there or here wake up and send you the correct number or advise you accordingly.

Thanks Gernadem , Hope others tell me what they do think. Regards

Welcome to Libya!!!

Don't worry this is normal procedure..........

Send an email to your employer and tell them what the embassy is telling you. Ask them to ensure that the telex was sent in the first place and to re-confirm the reference number.

You will have to keep checking with the embassy, after you receive a confirmation from your employer, for the status of the telex. This is usual delaying procedure in the embassies.

Once they confirm the receipt of the telex they will tell you which documents you need to submit. You may be asked to submit a medical test.

The process time in the embassy is usually around 2 weeks.

Good luck.

Siddiqui , thank you , i have already done the tests , and i am in close relation with the Libyan embassy for any updates . Libyan embassy informed me that it only takes 4 working days to finish the job. What they all need is just to get the telex number . Do you know by any chance who long in digits should be the telex number reference.

Dear Ahmad , I appreciate your kind feedback , it is highly appreciated. I am just waiting the Embassy to receive the telex number confirmation . Do you have any idea how long in digits that should be ? . Also the company informed me that they have sent the telex number since more than 7 working days. Thanx again .

Siddiqui

Depends on the location.

For middle eastern countries our reference numebrs are all 3 digits.

For UK they are all 6 digits.

I am not sure where you are applying from so I can't help you on that.

As I said ask the office to sort this out. Ask them to send you the scanned copy of the visa fee payment receipt on which the immigration department writes the reference number. This you can then show to the embassy people for verification.

Thanx  Siddiqui , i did not apply anything , the company did all that.

Please note a 'Libyan day' is not the standard 24 hour unit you may be used to. Likewise a 'Libyan minute' or a 'Libyan hour' .... ;)

Did you give the Embassy your name?  They can look it up by name!
