We have a house with a very nice, in appearance anyways, red clay tile roof. House is only a few years old. Sosua area.

There were a few roof leaking areas which we had repaired. Didn't cost a lot, and the contractor replaced broken tiles etc., based on the usual visual inspection and walk on the roof. Most of the leak issues have been resolved, but I still have one leak. Based on tonight's recent rainfall.

I think the contractor is doing his best, but I have to wonder are there not some better techniques available for finding leak points in a roof of this type.

Any experience or suggestions, with how to find leaks or ways to repair, would be helpful.

Thanks Kenjee. I have been doing that, and have not really found any forums, but have got some information.

Learning for example that it is apparently really the membrane under the tiles that seals the roof, the tiles primarily shed water. Leaks appear, from what I have read, if the membrane is punctured AND the tiles in the area of the puncture are cracked or broken, don't themselves seal or shed water correctly.

What my contractor did was replace a number of broken tiles, and seal up a lot of tiles with cement. He is doing his very best, I am not sure about his level of understanding of roof design. I have a roof design with valleys, and the leak is in the valley.

Pictures on the net from roofing contractors in Florida show the roof valleys filled with overlapping membrane sheets. Suspect might be my problem, the membrane installed poorly.
