Seeking Medium to Small Beach Town for Long-Term Stay

Hi,

I'm a US budget male traveler and looking for a medium to small sized-town in Vietnam to live in from Oct '15 to July '16.

I'm hoping to find the following;
- Affordable apartment (US$500 or less)...close to or on beach
- Local-type town with a little tourist activities.
- Some night-life possibilities...but not 24/7 wild-crazy
- Small expat community
- Hash House Harriers hopefully

A short list of towns I've lived in and liked and hoping to find similar:
Palolem Goa, India
Isla Mujeres, Mex
Key West, FL, USA
Puerto Galera, Philippines
Au Nang, Thailand

If there is any place you might recommend in Vietnam I'd sure appreciate your input.

Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,
Nha Trang sounds perfect for what your looking for.
It's on some of the best beaches in Vietnam.
It's only 40 mins flight from Saigon for about $30 .  You will easily find an apartment for Less than $500 a month close to the beach.
There is  a Hash House harriers club that competes every Sunday at 3pm with about 70 starters on average. Google Nha Trang Hash.

We have a cycling club ,a great cycle road north of town that follows the beach and ocean for about 20k with very little traffic and good surface.   Several Gyms for about $8 a month.   Great beaches ,
Good night life, modern cinema's, new supermarkets, local markets, mud baths, 10 pin bowling, tennis ,  2 golf courses etc etc.

It also has the best weather in SE Asia.

Good expat community as well.

Good luck.

Yogi makes me so envious, especially now that many Russians have apparently left??

Nha Trang is a medium sized city of half a million people. There are three beaches in town and others outside of town. There are also beautiful mountain streams and waterfalls outside Nha Trang. See

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.   I know the closer I get to arriving (October) there will probably be a few more logistic questions I might have...would it be okay if I contact you as they come up.   Ken
