Post new topic

Hello everyone. My name is Goran, im from Montenegro (small Europian country). In past 2 years im considering to move on Iceland and try to get a work, and of course i would love to live there as well. I will stick with you here and gather informations to accomplish my dream . :)
I've finished maritime school and have all the documents needed to work on a ship. What are the opportunities for me in  your country? Do i need all of those documents to be a fisherman? or any other?

hi,

I haven't answered your message before because I really don't know anything about working on fishing ships, but I can at least offer you some words to know.

In Icelandic, you're probably looking for work like "sjómennska" or "fiskivinnsla" (sailor and fish work). There are lots of companies that do this work but the ones I've found with online applications seem to require an Icelandic ID number. I'm not sure if you are able to freely move to Iceland as a citizen of Montenegro though.

here's an example of a fishing company's online application:

You can find information in English about other fishing & shipping companies here:

hope this is at least enough to get you started on your research!
