We are going to be moving to Cotacachi is two months from the states.  We are currently at 300 feet above sea level, but understand that this area we will be moving to is nearly 8,000 above sea level.

Did anyone have a heck of a time adjusting?  Your body eventually adjusts, correct??!!

Thanks

Irish, altitude affects individuals differently. Some tire easily for 3-5 days and then are ok which is my case. Some get headaches and others have upset stomachs both of which normally last less than a week. In one case, a good friend had to leave the country due to severe stomach pains. It is best not to plan heavy activity for first days back. In summary, yes most individuals eventually adjust however have to adjust each time they return to altitude. Many take tea de coca to ease the transition.
