Hello!

I am wondering if you could share with me the cost of living in New Caledonia?

Some things I am curios about are;

* Baby formula

* Nappies

* Childrens clothes

* Groceries - per month,

* Doctors visits

* Schooling

* Energy prices (oil, electricity)

* Common bills (Internet, TV, phone, mobile phone)

* Eating in a restaurant

> price a coffee in a cafe

> price of the cinema (is there one in New Cal?)

Many thanks for your help on this!

Hi HyperKeez,

I am supposed to go to the hypermarket to-morrow as every week, so I'll have a look at the baby things.

I suggest you read the post I wrote some time ago for a NZ guy
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15843

You can also read Zazoo's yesterday post (23:55:17)
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.p … 7718#54780

It's in French, but you know you have to understand a little bit French if you plan to live here.

Some prices :
a home to rent : 150 000 / 200 000 FCP /month
grocery & food market (3 people) : 150 000 FCP /month
a small new car : 1 200 000 FCFP
a 4x4 car : 2 500 000 FCFP
electricity, water, phone, Internet, rubbish service : 30 000 FCP /month
100 000 FCP = 1 250 US$ = 8 150 MMK

In which field of activity do you plan to work in NC ?

See you

Hi Hyperkezz,

Back from the hypermarket :

baby milk : 1 200 FCFP /kg
nappies : 5 000 FCFP /150
one-piece outfit : 1200 -> 2500 FCFP

doctor visit : 3 600 FCFP
gaz-oil : 130 FCFP /l

café : 350 FCFP
beer : 400 FCFP (120 FCFP a can in a store, never cold)
restaurant : 3 000 -> 5 000 FCFP
cinema : 900 FCFP

1 000 FCFP = 13.60 AU$

There is a good English school in Nouméa, a little bit expensive :

Hi Pisolahy,

Thank you sooo much for going to all that troubl. It's not as expensive as I thought it would be.

We are with the Koniambo project in Gomen.

Many thanks,
Kerry.

Hi HyperKezz,

No trouble !

I just had to ask an English speaking lady with a baby to know the (Aussie ?) name for an one-piece outfit (my sons are so old now) !

Have a look at an old post of mine :
