Formalities to bring your pet in New Caledonia

Hi all,

What are the formalities and paperwork required to bring your pet in New Caledonia?

How long do formalities & paperwork usually take in New Caledonia?

What are the relevant authorities to contact?

Which vaccines are compulsory? Do your pets have to go in quarantine at their arrival in New Caledonia?

Which advice would you give to the ones who would like to move with a dog, a cat or any other pet?

Thanks in advance for participating :)

Hi there,

The formalities are not too strict in bringing your pet over (with the right shots etc. it's only about 3 days quarantine).
Sadly, right now no animals are allowed into New Caledonia.  I too have my lovely dog that I want to bring over- but I have to wait until the new quarantine centre is open.  It is supposed to open somewhere between June-Dec 2012.  The centre has already been closed for over a year and they only just started construction last week (so more likely end 2012).  It is truly maddening!  I cannot believe they knocked down the old centre before building the new one (different site too).  Also- no alternative quarantines allowed (ie. Australia, NZ etc).  We are all in the same boat- and the only solution I have is to find someone to look after our dog for 6-12 months until we can bring her over.  If you need any other info let me know...and let me know if you learn anything new!

Thanks for these tips doskiski!:)

Harmonie.

No problem ;)!

Just to give everyone a couple links shared from the French forum for the official site for info (though this is in French):

this is for conditions/rules for importation:

Hope this helps..
