Buying property in India

can a foreigner buy property in India?

If so, is it complicated? What is the process of purchasing a property in India?

Any tips for buying property, such as a check-list of items to verify ?

Thanks in advance for participating!

One can get in touch with property consultancy firms in India, One of the leading company is Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj property sevices.

its quite difficult for a foreigner to buy properties in india. but i suggest you consult a property development company. they would definitely be of help

No I don't think a foreigner can buy property - you need a PIO card (person of Indian Origin) which you get only if you marry an Indian or have an Indian parent. Buying property is quite a process as you would expect. Main thing to watch out for is the demands for "black" money which some sellers want - basically under the table cash. Difficult to find a property which is 100% white but it can be done. Then post that, the usual hassles of registration and stamp duty etc.....

Hope this helps!
