Mosquitoes and other "biters"

Post new topic

Pica1

Hi all.  We just returned from our second research trip to Belize (thank you all the expat-bloggers who helped) and decided it wasn't for us.  One downside near the Caribbean Coast was the mosquitoes.  Didn't affect my husband, but they LOVED me.  Came back covered with bites.  We will be coming to Cuenca and I am wondering about "skeeters" and other such insects.  Given the fact that this area is at a high altutude and milder than Belize, how much of a problem are they?

Thanks much,
Toni and John.

Those types of insects don't exist in Cuenca itself.  But if you go to nearby outlying areas such as Paute or Yunguilla which are at a lower altitude, you experience warmer temps, more humidity, and, yes, mosquitoes.
