I am planning on moving to CR soon, and am having difficulty figuring out from this end (Canada)how to bring money into CR. I'm talking about all of my money. I know that once I get there I can open a Scotiabank account, but does anyone know firsthand how much, or in what form I can bring money in.

if over $10k you must notify, and they will ask the source of the funds
- why not just bring $9000, and after you have an acct transfer the balance?

I'm starting to realize that I probably will have to take a trip down for a couple of months to get things sorted out, come back and then move permanently.

It seems I misspoke (sp?).
A friend told me $5000 was the cash limit into CR.
I suggest calling a Consulate.
