Anyone know of an agent to do the paperwork for moving my personal car from the UK to Greece (permanent) I have owned the car for a few years. I will be moving permanently to Greece myself. I would like to drive the car into Greece myself. The car complies with Greece emissions laws etc - Euro 5.

dont assume its that simple - i failed with the exact same situation as due to brexit you may find it almost impossible unless its a non diesel nearly new car and euro cap 6 - dont trust what you hear - find out the facts before proceeding with any agent

Personally I would not bother, it really is too much hassle. Headlights might need changing as well. It all adds up.

Thank you chaps, just looking at a similar replacement car in Greece looks expensive !

Cars there appear to be a third more expensive than the UK.

I am trying to find out the same information because we are also moving at the end of this year, if anyone has any information, I will be happy to listen to advice and tips.

Apart from other reasons already cited, there is another majour reason for not taking your car to Greece, at least in my view: Steering wheel position. I think that it would be very dangerous to drive a right-hand wheel vehicle in European countries where all vehicles have left-hand wheels and driving is done on the right-hand lane.  My suggestion is that you sell your trusted car in the UK and try to buy another one in Greete. Prices have dropped lately and I am sure that you can find a car of your liking at a reasonable price. Just check the site car.gr where you can find out about used car prices, based on car brand, engine size, age, and other features. Alternatively,  once you are in Greece check the numerous businesses of used cars.

A left hand drive car in the UK has an insurance premium greater than a right hand drive version of the same car.

Is that the same in Greece?

@Fred I have no idea. Most likely not. However, the very fact that insurance premium in the UK is higher for vehicles with the steering wheel on the left-hand side, means the accident statistics with "inappropriate" steering wheel position point to the risk.

Sounds like a lot of red tape and hassle. Looks like sell here and buy in Greece.
