Is it a good idea to rent an apartment or a cheap motel at first

jackfrostyfly

HI looking at retiring in Bolivia, Cochabamba preferably I think. Is it a good idea to rent an apartment or a cheap motel at first, to get the lay of the land. Probably going to buy a 2 brm something or other in time.

What is the most important thing for me to find a honest guide for the first month or more, as my spanish is not that good. Older gentleman that knows the system and the ropes who speaks english.

If you could help that would be very good, thanks.

@jackfrostyfly I am wondering if you have moved to Bolivia and have figured out the best initial housing arrangement to make. I am in the final stretches of retiring to  Bolivia and have many questions. My anticipated move will be June or July 20204 and I will be living in Tarija.
