Hi all, I booked a flight with azul and as yet not received a booking confirmation although the money has left my account. Is there generally a delay in sending confirmations.

dedecadaver

@ltoby955 called azul what they said ? No email ? They should of given you it

Texanbrazil

No. Azul will have you confirm with the payment as will a third party. Now if just booked and is not confirmed with payment, the booking can be "dropped" after 12 hours (or less if the plane is full) and need to rebook. (probably higher price).

Brazil airline companies seem to always do this. Once another seat is sold the price goes up.

Have you gone back to Azul's site and entered your confirmation #? Be sure to print such if you have,

chefjim

Hi Itoby,

Just by chance, did your ticket cost a LOT more than you had expected?  I read over a week ago that Azul was going to increase their fares by 74%.....around 20 October.  I was wondering if this increase has already gone into effect.

breview

@Texanbrazil  This happens with all Airlines, not only Brazilian ones. Especially if you purchase in one of these intermediating discount sites, because they need time to confirm with the airlines if the fare they offered is available

breview

@ltoby955 it depends if you booked it directly with the airline or in one of these intermediate discount sites where it usually takes a little longer because they need extra time to confirm if the fare they offered is still available. It usually goes through, if not, they credit back your credit card. It happened to me once when I purchased in one of the many discount sites out there and it wasn’t with a Brazilian airline, it was a ticket to Europe. So, this is not unusual. Once they get your payment, they go to the airline to purchase it from them

-@breview

It is true, but in Brazil, as my wife deals with every day, the brazil airlines only give a certain amount of hours, whereas say Delta will post the time to hold the ticket. In Brazil, they may hold it for 8 hours, OR if someone books and pays on the same flight, your booking may drop out of their system!!!

We never use 3rd parties, as my wife would disown me unless I wive enough reward miles to be free or discounted.

It not showing as booked but showing as left my paypal account, does anyone know if paypal take a longtime to process there?

ltoby955

@dedecadaver You called azul, that was nice.

ltoby955

@Texanbrazil I have a photo of the reservation but it's not showing on azul website

ltoby955

@chefjim The price was going up everyday by a 100 euro 500 reais

ltoby955

@breview I booked on azuls site so suprised really, never happened before.

On Azul's English Language homepage, will it let you input your routing number and last name under "My Reservations"?

ltoby955

@abthree Hi I tried that an it shows nothing, this seems to be an error on both my part and that of Paypal. I have since booked another flight with my credit card, only problem is I land in Garulhos and have to get to Virascopos, I will pop a new post about that.

Mikeflanagan

So to give some insight here. I tried to order a ticket via azul not long ago (2-5 days ago )  for a family member. It was riddled with issues during the purchase process and I think their website is having issues, i just cancelled transaction and went with gol

Mikeflanagan

So reach out to azul support to find out whats going on. reach out to paypal. Talk to azul in the event of any delays due to no fault of your own with the ticket purchase. Abthree had some sound advise to contact the english portion of their website - Dont use autotranslate features via browsers when ordering stuff. that can cause literal chaos for purchases. if your lucky the website will just error.

I've never had good luck with Azul, and gave up on them long ago.  The least bad Brazilian airline in my experience is Latam, and we go with them whenever possible; not "good", just "least bad".

I actually have better luck taking a bus out of GRU than using connecting flights, but yes, you are so right, so far LATAM has been "the least bad"

abthree

09/28/22  I probably wouldn't mind Gol as much as I do if I could just stow my legs in the overhead compartment, but unfortunately, they're attached.  I've never been so cramped on any airline in the world, and I'm only 5' 8"!

Mikeflanagan

@abthree thanks for making me laugh out nortoiously loud during a meeting hahaha. you are right. Latam would be preferred. Just their flight times didnt match up to ours

Mikeflanagan

I genuinely feel bad for the people sitting in front of me. lol, Though, Air Canada has some of the most cramped seating arrangements I've ever had

abthree

-@Mikeflanagan

Thanks to one of the weirdest aspects of the way Brazil organizes its air traffic, Manaus has a wide array of flights to choose from  - all of which seem to take off or land between midnight and five am.  I had been flying in and out of Eduardo Gomes International Airport for five years before I finally saw it in the daylight for the first time.

ltoby955

If you think the legroom is small take a look at Ryanair and =Easyjet europe lol.  Problem resolved with Azul, refunded yesterday. I find on cost the beat Latam and Gol are crazy prices.

abthree

09/29/22  @Itoby955 Glad you got it resolved.  Too often, getting a refund from an airline is as hard as everything else in dealing with an airline these days!

ltoby955

@Mikeflanagan I found out I have a friend who has a friend scenario lol, she works for Azul and said the Florida situation with storm Ian punched holes through their system with so many cancels.

Mikeflanagan

@ltoby955

Yea I kinda figured as much as thats their operational path.

Like azul has always been polite and the seats not too horrid  I remember when the pandemic first hit and out of the entire line of people I was the only one allowed on the plane because I had all my documents.

So outside of the pandemic not sure how well of a company is since the american counterpart jetblue is in all that weird state with united airlines which I despise with every fiber in my body

Mikeflanagan

@abthree

Yea Always found it weird that all my arrival flights are during the night or early am 12 am - 7 am. lol.

It's either really bad planning, or the whole schedule is built around the convenience of São Paulo, Rio, and Brasília, and the rest of the country just has to make do.  Which is also really bad planning, but at least that possibility has some logic.

The US and Canada, similarly sized countries, have figured it out, so it can't be that hard.  If they scheduled the way Brazil does, every flight out of San Jose or Vancouver would be a redeye.

ltoby955

They are the best company to fly with from Portugal to Brazil.

Texanbrazil

Pilots and crew must get 10 hours of rest time with 8 sleeping. Many have 2 days for international night flights and then go on day flights. With flights ( especially international flights) there are not many "deadhead flights". Pilots need to return to their base of operations.

Maintenance is an issue, Post flight, and pre-flight checks are required and information is sent to the airline's headquarters. If the airlines do not have a maintenance hanger, contract maintenance is used, which is a factor.

Add on Airport slot times as mentioned, airlines keep these by use or they lose them.

So now I'm curious about Azul. I see that they can get me into Santos Dumont airport in Rio from my tiny interior town PLUS it looks like they fly to Lisbon (out of Viracopos). I've always been a TAP fan as it flies REC-LIS directly. The Fort Lauderdale connection appeals to me as well.

As I look deeper I see all three (including JetBlue) have a common connection- David Neeleman who sold his piece of TAP in 2020.

I've never flown Azul. Is it better/worse tha GOL?

ltoby955

I like Azul and have used them to fly from Portugal to hear, they are cheaper than TAP howver I think Latam is better for long haul

Hi Mike,

Azul is fine for some places Curitiba and FLL or Miami. The biggest difference is the aircraft. Azul smaller and most go via Campinas.

ltoby955

Hi, I can only say about Camoinas Porto Alegre and Campinas, they used a bigger plane on Monday Texan. They also use the New Airbus for the long haul to Portugal however Latam had a new 787 900 on my flight from Madrid, a great plane.

In Portugal, we call TAP fly trap as they take your money and provide poor service and try and get a refund or any kind of customer service and you would be better whistling into the wind.

Droplover

We mostly fly Azul because we live in Campinas and we have always been very satisfied.  We've flown to FLL many times and to Lisbon once and all flights have been fine with minimal delays.
