Dublin is well-known for its delicious food and its lively atmosphere around meal times. Regardless of the time of the day, you will be able to find a mouthwatering meal around the city. Some of the best restaurants in Europe are found in Dublin, so there are many hidden gems for you to explore.

It is not a stereotype; Irish people love their Guinness. This is one of the favourite alcoholic beverages across Ireland, and you will not find a nicer pint of Guinness outside of Ireland. It is an ideal drink when you are in the pub socializing with friends and sipping away.

There are a lot of trendy cocktail bars where you can get all sorts of creative concoctions. The craft beer scene in Ireland is thriving, and there are many bars dedicated to this type of beverage. There are also regular craft beer festivals in and around the city. Finally, gin has become very popular in the city in recent years, and the likes of whiskey remain a favourite shot in pubs.

Many dishes are famous in Dublin. Iris stew is a staple of the Irish diet. It is made up of all sorts of vegetables, as well as potatoes and traditionally lamb but sometimes beef as well. Most pubs will have an Irish stew on the menu.

A traditional Irish breakfast is always a popular choice first thing in the morning to set you up right for the day. You have the full trimmings on offer including sausages, bacon (rashers as they are known in Ireland), eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes to name but a few of the options.

Another staple dish in Ireland is bacon and cabbage. While it may not sound appealing, this is chunky and salty bacon which contrasts nicely with the cabbage.

The best restaurants in Dublin

There are many great restaurants in Dublin, ranging from Michelin star establishments to family-run spots which have been a local favourite for decades.

For fine dining, Chapter One is a good option. This is fine dining at its best, and it is a Michelin star establishment. They try to ensure that the natural ingredients and dishes of Ireland are not forgotten when it comes to fine dining.

For a more affordable option that is also serving up top quality food, you have the Featherblade restaurant. This is a steakhouse located right in the city centre, and it has some of the juiciest steaks around.

If you are in the mood for something quick, the burger place called Bunsen is a popular choice. They have numerous choices across the city, and they focus on doing it well.
