Looking to obtain temporary residence

Nvanbelzen

Hi All, Happy new year!

my name is Niels, Dutch national, just moved in to Guayaquil earlier this week. I'm looking to obtain temporary residence. Any recommendations for immigration service/lawyer in Guayaquil who can help with the process + things like opening a bank account, changing European driver license etc?
any recommendations for websites / real estate agents to help me find a home are also more than welcome :)

thanks a lot!

Hello Niels,

Welcome to Expat.com, and Happy New Year to you. :)

Please note that I have created a new topic on the Guayaquil forum with your original post from the New members thread. In doing so, your multiple queries under a stand-alone thread will gain more visibility, and ensure that all relevant replies are gathered in a single place.

As general advice that we give to new members, I would suggest that you read our Living in Ecuador guide. In your particular case, you should most notably have a look at the following sections in the guide:

- Bank in Ecuador
- Driver's licence in Ecuador
- Accommodation in Guayaquil

As far as recommendations for immigration services are concerned, I would guide you to have a look at the immigration lawyers listed in the business directory of the website.

Hopefully, our members will also be able to give you insight of their own to help you settle in smoothly in Guayaquil. :)

Keep us posted on how you are finding life as an expat in Guayaquil so far. ;)

Best of luck,

Diksha

you cannot, you will need to take the driving test, cognitive and theory test (unless Ec rules have changed again recently)
