Your neighbours in Turkey

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

When you move in Turkey, relationships with your neighbours can play a vital role in your well-being and integration. Share your experiences of the interactions and routines that punctuate your daily life in Turkey:

Tell us about your relationships with your neighbours in Turkey. Do you have any anecdotes to share, moments of solidarity or community initiatives that have touched you?

Are there any specific customs or cultural norms to be respected between neighbours? For example, is it normal to introduce yourself to your neighbours and invite them over when you move in Turkey?

Do you have any tips or advice for fostering good neighbourly relations in Turkey? How do you deal with the differences and diversities that can exist within the community?

Are there any initiatives to organise activities between neighbours, whether official events or spontaneous gatherings?

Are your neighbours expats or locals? How does this influence your experience in Turkey?

By sharing your experiences, you enrich everyone's understanding of life in Turkey and help many people to plan their life abroad.

Thank you all for your contributions.

Very good initative I have to say.

We live in Mahmutlar very many Russian speaking people, also some Arabic and Turkish but the latter 2 in the minority.

Neighbours can really change your life, but I have to say we were lucky, very quiet neighbours, VERY friendly, a coffee from time to time, but nothing more (too close can also be tricky).

But as everywhere there can be be horrible experiences, not only in Turkey, but also Netherlands, Hungary or UK.

In a way having a detached house can be more easy. Again in the complex where we live (and the floor) it is easy. Also depends on ones approach, of course there is always something to complain, this or that.

Items can go over the limit, if a neighbour asks me (in my apartment) to smoke in a different room, this is to far and we were very strong, please call the police we said. After that no problems.
