HI, there my son has ADHD and I'm currently home schooling him as the schools here aren't equipped to work with special needs children.

I am moving to Jubail this fall and will need to homeschool my special needs child as well. Are there any homeschool groups?

We have two children and both have learning disabilities.
The schools which they were attending mainstreamed our
children in regular classes with a special Ed teacher working
With them.  Our girl will be in eighth grade and did
Very well this past year and pretty much is on her
own. Our boy will be in third grade and besides having a
Learning disability, he does have ADHD.
I have been researching for schools and
I got the impression that they don't work with kids
with  children with learning disabilities in Jubail.
I guess we will have no choice but to homeschool
Does anyone do this in there homes?

Hi everybody. I am in a similar situation and I have been trying to home school my 6 year old son who has a developmental delay. I think it is a shame that children with learning difficulty are dismissed and almost forgotten in this part of the world .i expected international schools to provide support teachers for them but unfortunately it is not important to them.It would be excellent if we could work together to provide an educational and social environment for our children so that they don't feel like they are missing out. Perhaps a study group....or something . If it was possible I would set up a school for children with special needs but unfortunately it takes a lot of people to do such a thing.   Have any of you started to home school...if so...how is it going.

well because someone brought up High functioning autistics. I graduated from a private Saudi high school from their american diploma program, and I was recently diagnosed as a high functioning autistic. I didn't have any problems with my school at all.

My brother is currently in high school, and he has ADHD and some learning disabilities, and his school in Dammam is handeling him well. this makes me think that a private school with small classes might be able to handle some of the cases mentioned here.

I should also mention for home schoolers. You can get together and bring tutors for your children.

And I regrettably inform you that my research has not brought up special ED schools that cater to English speakers, but the Indian school in jubail does have special ED but I don't know if they admit english speakers. iisjubail.org/

My 4 year old daughter having microchepela, special child. i did lot of efforts and exploration in suadi especially in eastern province, There are good health center for special child like
1.king fahad hospital for disable children, too much rush.
2.ERADA jubail&Dammam but they  have also same problem in addition do not have specialized teacher
3.Jubail rehabilitation center, that really good facilities however little bit expensive.They have full rehab programe including special rope excessive physiotherapy, speechterphy  only in arabic language, learning school as well ( http://jubailrehab.com/)

I have daughter .she is seven years old .She is a special child .when she was 11 Days old she suffered from Menigitis and had impact on her brain.we are regulary doing physiotheraphy at home .I have seen good improvement in her for past 2 Years.I am looking for a school where she could spend her day time  and learn more things.Presently she is unable to walk .Please guide

Hi, just saw your message. I too have a daughter with special needs. Just a couple of weeks ago, I have been advise to visit Jubail Rehabilitation Centre and another called Irada Centre.
I have got contact details of Jubail Rehab Centre, which I will be contacting during the next couple of weeks. Will let you know.
The other one I could not get details of yet.
Will update you soon on my findings.

Hey everyone! For those of you who live in Khobar/Dammam/Dhahran, another option is to check out the schools in Bahrain. There is a wonderful school called The Children's Academy in Bahrain that caters to children with special needs and it's just past the causeway so the kids could commute on a daily basis. There are other school there as well if you search. Good luck everybody!
