Tips for wearing a skirt in Iran on windy days?

Hi,

Any advice on wearing skirts in Iran during windy weather? I want to stay modest and respectful while avoiding the skirt flying up.

Thanks!

@María López cánovas Hello Maria. I am from Iran. Women’s clothing in public is becoming more and more liberal since 3 years, and especially in the past few months. My tip to you as an Iranian woman, to stay “modest” as you mentioned, you can wear loose fitting skirts that are preferably ankle-length or at most mid-length. Please avoid slits or splits, especially in windy times. Also, worth noting is that clothing in Tehran is much more liberal than other cities.

Hi,

It really depends on where you are. In Tehran or other busy and highly populated areas, wearing a skirt in very windy weather may not be the most practical idea, especially if you are concerned about staying modest and avoiding unwanted attention.

In quieter, less crowded places, private resorts, nature areas, or more relaxed settings, people may have more freedom in practice and the atmosphere can feel less restrictive. Still, it is a good idea to consider the specific location and local expectations before deciding what to wear.

For windy days, a heavier maxi skirt or loose trousers would probably be the easiest and most comfortable option.
