Relocating to Valencia

My partner and I (age 56 and 73) are going back to Valencia for a 3rd trip in a few weeks and will be spending our time looking at apartment rentals and what neighborhood would be best for us.  Looking for anyone that has gone through this process and would have advice about private health insurance and the overall experience of relocating to Valencia.

I used a relocation service that is listed on this site and was very happy.  If you message me I will give you the info or you can just go the relocation agencies above.  There are also some you tube channels that will walk you through the whole visa application  process.  The time varies quite a bit depending on where you are applying from.

You have to look around at the neighborhoods and it really depends on what you are looking for.  There are more upscale, posh neighborhoods, but they have a lot of noise and tourists.  There is the central historic district, which is also touristy and has a lot of activity.  If that is what you are looking for.  The arts and sciences area is very nice also and quieter.  Those areas are all kind of pricey.  Also, do you know about the summers and Fallas?   If you go to the outer neighborhoods or by the ocean, the costs come down.   But it is true what they say, the prices  have really gone up from when I started looking 5 years ago.  You can find a good deal, but you have to be determined.

Public transportation if great.  Pretty much every area has lots of shops, the prices of groceries are very affordable and the food is amazing.  There are lots of activities.  The healthcare system is pretty easy to navigate, just depends on your needs.   If you don't speak Spanish yet, probably a good idea to start practicing.  I am taking lessons and I do find it a bit challenging, but I feel I am slowly making progress.

Everything really depends on what you are looking for and what your situation is, of course.  Feel free to message me.

Cheers😎

Hello Jons0417,

I made the move 5 years ago and am still grateful for every single day I get to spend in this beautiful city.

The cost of private health insurance remains reasonable. I use SANITAS and am very satisfied with them (so far). I have also heard good things about DKV.

Feel free to reach out should you need more info...

I hope you enjoy your stay in Valencia. It is the best season to visit.
