Visiting to explore moving to Portugal

Hello Everyone,

I'm planning on visiting Portugal to explore moving there and would like to find meet up events. Is there someplace on this website that lists these things? I went to the Events link but it didn't look like the right place.

So, flight prices are looking good for early November (avoiding the Thanksgiving travel traffic), or definitely January if not November. Part of my decision may depend on if I can meet up with expats already living there. If you'd like to 'host' me (I'll get an AirBnB, and try not to be a pest 😉) please message me here.

Hi,

Are you thinking of moving to Portugal to meet persons who are not from Portugal ? If so I, personally, find that offensive.

I would absolutely love to meet native Portuguese but they won't have the insights of becoming a expat that someone who has already done it would have. That being said, while you have provided good information before, which is greatly appreciated, SimCityAT was correct, it is best to think before posting.

I have been in Portugal for about 3 months now, and one of the best things has been the local English-speaking community. Making connections with this group has actually helped me begin to integrate into the culture. I was given advice on local businesses, local language instructors, and help in understanding the culture and social norms. Getting this information from other people who have moved here and are trying to integrate as much as possible has been fantastic. Connecting with other English speakers might help you get up to speed more quickly. I'll send you a PM with my location, and if you end up in my area I'll be happy to show you around!
