Is a VISA and, or work permit needed to live in Malta?

I've got my working permit last Feb, my problem is I'm still working here in Philippines, May I know
how long it will takes to process an entry visa (long stay visa) so that I can file a resignation now or do I have to wait a few months for it?

I am here to gather an information first before i make action. for your quick info. i have my boyfriend in malta and he is helping me to find a job in malta to process my work permit and my visa also while i am here in Philippines

my question is
1. if he we get an fiancee visa for me it is possible i can work while staying to him.
2. how long i can stay for fiancee visa if the working visa wasnt yet there.
3. Is there suggestion you may advice me to have a visa and working permit as well.

Hi Luzvi,

your future husband has to declare his intention to marry you in writing to apply for the visa. He also has to declare that he will cover all costs related to your stay in Malta until you are married.

You are not allowed to work until you are married and will not get a work permit . If you don't get married ( one never knows) you will have to leave Malta again but your boyfriend will have to pay for your return flight.

i have my visa in malta until may 2015 i am still allowed to come no question needed.

Why didn't you come yet ? Your visa is expiring soon .

Are you coming as a tourist ? Do you have a work permit ?

There might be questions but with this little information who knows.

Just going to throw this out here and hopefully find a resolution. I'm a 27 year old Canadian/American dual citizen currently in Malta on a tourist visa. I am visiting my mother who is semi retired here. I would like to find some way to stay in the country and close to her long term as she is getting on in years. I have looked around for jobs in my field (commercial archaeology) and others such as food service and found that all of them require an EU citizenship or that I must apply from out of country. Most of the websites which I have visited for job/visa information seem to be out of date by years and don't offer any information for immigrants from commonwealth countries aside from Australia.
Any advice would be wonderful, even to say i'm out of luck

as a non-EU citizen you can find a job in Malta and apply for a work permit/residency or get your employer to apply for you but it is very difficult and probably will take long than you have left on your tourist visa.

The terms and conditions for work permits and residency can be found on the websites of the ETC and MHAS.

With your qualifications ( commercial archeology) you would have a good chance that no other EU citizen would qualify for your potential job but ...... you would still have to find one !

You say your mother is semi-retired in Malta? What do you mean by that and what nationality does your mother hold ?

hello everyone,
im mihai, i live in new zealand, however i was born in romania, and i hold both romanian and new zealand passports.
im looking at moving to malta down the track to live, however im looking at doing fly in/fly out jobs in the maritime industry, but the job wouldnt be in malta.
would i need any visa's to live in malta if i didnt work there?
