Expat meetup in Helsinki

Hi Fellow Expats,
This thread is to organize meetups in Helsinki area! The idea is to meet people who are new to the area and spend some quality time together. Visits to museums, out to dance, movies, hang outs at coffee shops, basically anything and everything that this place has to offer ... I miss the groups of friends I have in the U.S. and Kyrgyzstan and would like to have that here.

Bring ideas, Make Suggestions, Invites and RSVP!

P.S. For the first meetup we had a wonderful time at Cafe Esplanade, with good company and conversations, good coffee and service!

Sorry I missed everyone. I was out sick last weekend.

Hope to be able to meet all of you another time. I was considering grabbing drinks after work in Helsinki this Friday if anyone was interested. Teerenpeli(microbrewery and restaurant) near Kamppi is a nice meetup spot. Let me know if anyone is interested or has any other thoughts on Friday drinks.

Hi everybody i will arrive in helsinki on 28th april and then leave on 1st of may. Would really like to meet somebody and hang out - get around helsinki!

Hi everyone, this all sounds good, but think i missed out on all the fun, just discovered this site! I moved to Helsinki from New Zealand this March and will be here for some time so will have plenty of chances to meet fellow expats! Hope to do that soon.

I'm finding things ok at the moment, still getting settled and used to all things Finnish again. I should be back in Helsinki this week and hopefully things have warmed up and can go out exploring again.

Hello everybody,

I'm Portuguese and am new in Helsinki (and Finland).
I have just moved here and was wondering if there are any meet-ups going on.

I'd like to make new friends in Helsinki. Is anybody up for a coffee?
The weather hasn't been bad and it seems the city becomes alive!
By the way, I hope you guys got to see the fireworks yesterday - it was stunning!

You might want to create your own thread (like the original post in this one) and set a date, that way people who are interested can come. The meeting we had from this thread was quite fun

If you don't want to arrange anything yourself, there is a group on Facebook called "Helsinki Expat Meetup" which is arranged specifically for this reason. They meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I look forward to seeing your post! I would be willing to go

Yeah, it's been awhile since we had our fun meetup! some of us got busy, then everyone was gone for the summer... I have been meeting up with some of you for coffee and stuff, so if you guys have suggestions for meet ups, you are all welcome to post them here! I can join, if I can! And as Ashley said, you can make your own thread or join Helsinki Expat meetup too, which they have every week.
Will let you know if I come up with something soon. Feel free to do the same!

Me too. I'll be in Helsinki until June probably, but since i work from home I am very isolated and have almost no contact with people. Needless to say, it can get a little lonely.
