Which Wise account is better for expats in the UK?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently moved to the UK and I’m looking into different banking and money transfer options. I came across Wise and noticed they offer both personal and business accounts.

As someone who’s mainly going to use it for everyday transfers, but might also freelance on the side, I’m a bit confused about which one would be more suitable. When I searched online, I found a lot of comparisons like Wise personal account vs business account UK, but I’d love to hear real experiences from people here.

Has anyone used Wise in the UK? Do you think it’s better to start with the personal account and later switch, or go directly with the business one if there’s even a slight chance of freelancing?

I would open a normal high street bank, so you can do everyday banking and talk to a person. If you want to transfer money from abroad, then open an account with Wise, as they often have the better rates.

A Wise Business account offers advanced features like multi-user access, batch payments, and accounting software integration, designed for businesses and freelancers to manage multiple transactions and employees. In contrast, a Wise Personal account is for individual financial needs and does not include these business-specific tools. You cannot use a personal account for business transactions, so a business account is required to meet professional financial management needs.
