New townhouse

Denbo

We have bought a new townhouse our friends have seen it, did a walk through and our lawyer has done his do diligence. Have a few questions that expats can answer i think.

1: I know lawyer will handle transfer from builder to us but if you have any other info we should look out for let me know. Who do we call or email to setup i assume water, hydro, etc. any info apricated.

2: How is it driving in Dominican i have read only need our Canadian drivers license smile.png , Insurance? roads, etc. I am thinking rent a car for few months we are there, we have designated parking spot but i don't think leaving a car there over summer very hot no one driving is a good idea?

3: We are using a company that buys in united states, ships, does customs, delivers and setup very reasonable prices compared to buying there and even here then shipping. We are sending barrels of small stuff from here via ShipDR which is great. Question i have read buy fridge, stove, air conditioner units from there. Is there anything that is better to buy there then ship? large items?

4: Is food (buying from supermarket) reasonable i have read can live on $100 US a week is this true?

Any help apricated and looking to enjoying a cold beer the next January while in Toronto it -25 and snow

Utilities are set up in person. You would need to give your lawyer a limited power of attorney, or another person.

Your canadian license is only good as long as your current visa status is valid! tourist visa is 30 days. Residency visa is  60 days. Buying a car talk to Cruffman here, he can help.  renting a vehicle is very expensive.

IF you are shipping using a residency allowance its totally different  shipping large items or a container.

Food costs - if its made here its reasonably priced, Imported foods  are expensive.  Estimating your food bill is impossible.
