Dominican Republic Taxes

Adalharis

Hi

Hope everyone is doing well. Can somebody help/guide us how do you your taxes when you live our DR but bought a property in the DR. We bough a house in Terrenas Samaná and put  it in Airbnb (which is providing some income). We furnished the whole place as well (paid DR taxes as we bought stuff in the DR).

We already paid the property taxes in DR in (2) payments as they allowed us, but dont know how to proceed with the taxes in DR and with the USA taxes as we live here.

Thank you in advance!

@Adalharis

If you have income in other countries that comes to the US and you are a US Citizen, typically the IRS wants that included. Best thing is to speak with a tax attorney that deals with clients who have business or assets/income in other countries.  You can contact me if you want some references, I too am a US Citizen with business in the D.R. so I can connect you with the right people if it helps. email me brandi.d@theagencyre.com

The IRS wants a piece of everything! As a US citizen, you are liable for taxes on income earned anywhere around the world. You can get a foreign income tax credit for the amount of taxes you pay to the DR on that income.

Thank you everyone, @planner we are clear that we have to pay taxes in the DR and that's why we are asking for some guidance, but we really need to know how do you do it in the Dominican Republic? We've already paid the property taxes in DGII (we did the 2 payments they let you do it that way).

Thank you again and looking for some guidance please if you have an Airbnb property in DR but you live in the USA.
