Hi. My name is Melinda and I am interested in moving to the British Virgin Islands with my seven-year-old son in the near future. My hope is within the next year we have lined everything up and are settled down on one of the islands. I was looking into the US Virgin Islands, but read that the British Virgin Islands have a lower crime rate and no income tax.. I’ve worked as a dental assistant for 23 years and I’m currently in school to be RN. I most likely would plan to rent a place at first while we could shop in person for a home or condo.. These are all my ideas, but I would love to learn more about tips when it comes to living year-round on the island.. I’ve traveled to the Caribbean many times to Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic.. I live in New England currently and grew up on Cape Cod. My heart belongs near the ocean, but have found peace in the mountains the past 13 years. That peace has now come to an end and I am looking for a positive change. We are not only looking for a beautiful place to go home, but also a supportive close community.

Moving to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is possible but generally requires securing a job with a work permit or having significant ties, as there is no "residency by investment" program. You will need a passport, police/medical certificates, and a sponsor employer to prove that no local is available for the role.

Good to know, sounds like a lot. I can respect all those guidelines coming from BVI to protect the residential islanders. I could provide all of that but the work sponsor could be a challenge. Possibly a trip in the next few months and visit some potential employers. This brings my back full circle to the idea ( at least temporarily) for the American Virgin Islands. I generally liked St Crioux after some research. Do you have any knowledge on any of the islands likeSt Thmoas, St John to St Cruix?
