Seeking Advice: Moving Belongings & a Cat to HCMC

vastuniverse102

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a move to Ho Chi Minh City and would appreciate advice from anyone who’s:

- Shipping personal belongings (several boxes, not a full container)

- Brought a pet into Vietnam. I’m brining my cat. (airlines, paperwork, timelines, and whether using a pet relocation service is worth it)

If you’ve moved boxes internationally to Vietnam or traveled with a pet, I’d love to hear:

- Who you shipped with, the cost, & roughly how long it took

- Any customs issues or surprises

- Tips or things you wish you’d known in advance

- Recommendations (or warnings)

Thanks in advance!. I appreciate any insights ?

I brought my dog to Vietnam and bringing a pet in is absolutely brutal. My wife and I did it ourselves but she is Vietnamese and it honestly took about a year to prepare everything. I would never do that again myself. I would use an experienced pet relocation service local to Vietnam. There is a place called Saigon Pet Hospital in HCMC (Thao Dien) and this is their specialty. I have no association with them and I would NOT use them as an actual vet but they do know how to relocate pets to and from Vietnam. Just trust me when I say you dont want to risk your pets life to save a few bucks.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did your dog have to go through quarantine?

No. I think with all the proper paperwork and vaccines its not required. Contact an agent and they can guide you through it.
