What visa do I need for a 6-month internship?

If  not yet arrived Vietnam you can make 06 month Visa by Arrival letter , at Viet Nam Airport more

You need a 6 month business visa. Apply visa approval letter online, get the letter via email, then print it out, show it at the airport, pay stamp fee to get your visa stamped.

Unless you are a child or too old person, age would not be an issue.

Let's go back to the beginning and ignore those shilling for visa on arrival.  If you are on an internship, the company that is sponsoring you should, at the very least, tell you what visa you will need and preferably should assist you in actually obtaining the visa and any needed documentation.  That would be a minimum effort on their part.  If they won't do it, maybe you should rethink the offer.

If you still want to go ahead without their help, are you being paid for this internship?  If so, are you being paid in VN currency or will you have your pay deposited to a bank in your home country.  The answers to these questions will bear on what type of visa you should obtain.

They will help me obtain the Visa and pay for the fees, but I'm not sure they have been hiring anyone under 18 from overseas before. I just didn't want to be completely blank when I have to discuss this with them.

Really, I'm mostly just looking for an answer as to whether I can expect to be accepted or denied when applying for a visa (considering my age), if anyone had experience with that.

Good to hear that.  Sorry but I can't answer your key question on age.

I do know that if you are paid in VN currency, to be legal you will need a work permit.  That may seem like a lot of trouble for a 6 month period but it is the law.  Again, if you are working for an international firm, they should know how to do it.  Given that you are posting on the Da Nang forum, my guess is that you are interning with one of the big international hotel chains.  Work permits should be old hat for them and they may even be able to do the paperwork in house.  Maybe it would be better if you could be paid by direct deposit to a bank in Denmark.  Of course you would need an ATM card or other way to access the funds.

First positive contribution I have seen from you, Jimmy.  A quick check tells me that the DH visa for interns is initially one year, an improvement on your original suggestion that he should obtain a 6 month visa.  If his work offer is for 6 months, he could be bumping up against a 6 month visa and in danger of liability for an overstay.  Too bad you did not start with this suggestion.  It would have enhanced your credibility.

I believe from what I have read that the 1 year DH is issued at a VN Embassy rather than on arrival.  Given a properly worded letter from his employer, young Mr. Chris should be able to pick his visa up at the embassy in Copenhagen and pay not one Danish Kroner more than the actual visa cost.  Having a visa actually glued into your passport before departure is always better than boarding a plane carrying only a letter from a for-profit non-governmental business that only promises a visa on arrival and charges a markup over the actual visa fee.  Just my opinion.

Jimmy:  since you seem to be in the business, why don't you answer Chris' question about obtaining a visa at age 17?

Well, seems like there might be a few options - I'm going to discuss this with the company ASAP (which is an IT company, btw).

As far as my researching skills go, I think a work permit requires you to be over 18. So if it would help that my pay gets deposited to my bank here in DK, I'd imagine they would probably be willing to do that.

Good lookup on the WP.  It's sort of a deception but if your pay is at home, you maintain a fiction that you are not being paid because no transaction takes place in VN, therefore no WP needed.  It sounds like your company has things in hand and probable will provide better advice than you can get here.  Good luck.
