And you wonder why certain nationaities have Immigration hassles?

Police in Ho Chi Minh City has asked the local prosecutor’s office to indict 30-year-old Ezeigwe Evaritus Chukwuebuka, a Nigerian national, for cheating many Vietnamese companies out of US$150,000.

In 2011 September, Ceramics - T&C Co Ltd, a supplier of potteries, terracotta, ceramics, grindstones, and decorative products in Binh Duong province, signed a contract with an Australia-based company in which the former would sell pottery and ceramic products worth US$8,000 to the latter.

Chukwuebuka, with the aid of accomplices, managed to steal a copy of the contract.

Chukwuebuka, in the name of Ceramics - T&C Co Ltd, then sent an email to the Australian company providing it with instructions on payment.

These instructions included the name of a bank and the account for the Australian company to make a transfer.

The buyer later transferred its payment to that account without knowing it had been cheated.

As shown on related banking documents, the holder of the account was Tran Thi Hoa, the name of a Vietnamese woman.

After the arrest, investigators were told that Chukwuebuka had accidentally picked up an ID card in the name of Tran Thi Hoa on a street and later used this card to open accounts in several banks for swindling purposes.

With the same trick, Chukwuebuka and accomplices had successfully cheated many other companies, investigators said.

Citizens of Nigeria and India are subject to special visa procedures.

Vietnamese authorities have been having a hard time with these guys for sometimes now.  It doesn't surprise me one bit if Vietnamese immigration start to scrutinize their visa applications.

Budman, you better start to behave, or they will take that VEC from you...

Not before time either ! ( IMHO :P

Nigeria has long been the internet capital of the world for all sorts of scams so it's hardly surprising that some of them take to other sorts of scams where ever they are in the world.

I don't wonder why certain nationalities have Immigration hassles, but I wonder how that guy can use ID of a Vietnamese woman to open accounts in Vietnamese banks?

 I can just imagine a nigerian guy in an ao dai, conical hat and face mask talking in a high pitch voice!
