Thailand does NOT use medical marijuana cards

richardctg

Just to let you know:

In Thailand, the "medical marijuana card" is not a legal document. Instead, the P.T. 33 (PorThor 33) form is the only standardized medical prescription recognized by law for the possession and purchase of cannabis.

Both residents and tourists must have a physical, "wet ink" signed P.T. 33 form issued by a licensed Thai medical professional to legally possess or buy cannabis.

Each P.T. 33 is valid for a maximum of 30 days and allows only a 30-day supply. You must undergo a new medical evaluation every month to get a new form.

The P.T. 33 must include your full name, passport or ID number, the specific medical condition (like insomnia or chronic pain), the exact dosage, and the prescribing doctor's license number.

While some services offer digital versions, Thai authorities often require the physical paper P.T. 33. Digital "weed cards" or IDs found online are not legally valid and are often scams.

Carrying your P.T. 33 alongside your original purchase receipt and ID protects you from arrest. Possession without this form can lead to fines of up to 20,000–25,000 Baht and up to one year in prison.

You can get the form by visiting a licensed clinic or a dispensary with an on-site doctor in cities like Bangkok or Phuket. The consultation usually costs between 300 and 600 THB.
