Finding a job in Malaysia during the pandemic

Looking for jobs in Malaysia while in Malaysia was a tough job itself. I was fortunate to a get a job and should say it really was a grueling 6 months period looking for job opportunities. I would attribute few reasons to that - my experience (10 years), my niche domain (Geographic Information System), stricter restrictions by Malaysia for recruiting expats. I will answer your questions as much as possible one by one.


Sector, how and through what
I applied through all the job portals - jobstreet, glassdoor, etc. Most importantly I set my status in Linked In to "Open to Work" and applied for all relevant jobs directly. Like I mentioned earlier, my domain is a niche and that made my job searching some more difficult. But I ensured I didn't search jobs out of my domain. Fortunately I got an interview call from one of the companies I applied for in Linked In - Project Engineer Data Architect Position.

Training
I didn't undergo any special training. I went through glassdoor interview experience based on the position I applied. I gathered the topics on which I would be questioned. I went through my resume and ensured I am confident about my work in all of my recent projects. My interview appointment had names of the interviewers. I went through their Linked In profile and got to know their areas of specialization. Then I learnt the topics related to my position and the interviewer's specialization. Along with all these studies, the confidence I had on myself helped me crack the interview.

Package and Negotiation
I analysed the packages for my experience, my educational qualification and trend. But basically I am a poor negotiator so I had to agree with the package they offered. But I also looked on the incentives they offered which was astonishingly satisfying.
Salary - 7.5% more than previous company
Incentives - 13 month salary, Employee Share Program, Family Leave, Flexible Working Hours
Work Life Balance - they have promised a fair work life balance. (May be I will write a blog post on my experience after 6 months).

You are right I have been trying by all means but nothing. What should I do. Tried to apply job as a graphic designer on many apps. Including  job street, indeed, best jobs and etc. But nothing. If you can help me please do so because I need a job where I have studied.
