Will i be taxed for current year if i move to Malaysia on 4th Nov

Farooqui84

Hi,

I wanted to know whether i’ll be taxed in Malaysia if I moved there after November 3 that means for the current year it would be less than 60 days Although I would be working in Malaysia for the next few years. If not, would I be taxed next year for current years earnings in case I am not taxed this year?

Regards,
Farooqui

Not sure about local taxation law, but in most countries you are taxable only for those months you've been s resident of that country. In other words, if you live in s country for two months, this being your fiscal residence, you pay taxes over those two months only.

Check with a local fiscal expert to be sure.

As i read online regarding Malaysian tax details, if a person works for less than 60 days in a year, he is not liable to pay tax.

I want to confirm this only. That although in 2021, i will be there for less than 60 days but next year continuing from Jan to Dec i will be working for whole year. So would I be liable for tax for Nov-Dec 2021 period also?
