Working Singapore and frequent visits to Johor Bahru to meet family

salmanucit

Hi all,

Because of living expenses (as my family is treated as foreigner, although I am a PR), I am planning to get my children admitted in school in JB and move my family there. I will be frequently visiting them weekly, on visit visa of Malaysia.

I have a question regarding taxation in Malaysia. Would I be considered tax resident and need to pay income tax in Malaysia if I spend 2 days (weekend) weekly in Malaysia and in a year, total number of days may be more than 100 that I would spend in JB/Malaysia.

Thanks,

Salman

You sound like a complicated person. Less than 100days will make you a Non-Resident in Malaysia. I think 45% taxes. Only thing is that you dont draw a salary in malaysia. you might be let off. Check ith the Tax Dept Please.
