Inhalers for COPD

KennyFree

Hi everyone,

Does anyone use inhalers for COPD (such as Seretide or Spiriva Respimat) or would anyone know if they are readily available in the pharmacies in Siem Reap.

Thanks!

@KennyFree I have COPD and use different inhalers, yet, most are available here. Look at the inhaler to determine which drug is in the inhaler (as opposed to the name brand which id usually an OEM drug). When you determine the name of the actual drug you need, go to a pharmacy and they should be able to obtain the same drug in it's Generic version from India. It will be the same drug, but not the OEM version and it should be available and cost about 1/10 of what you pay in the West.

@Viamund thanks for the info. That would be in Siem Reap correct?

It would apply to all drug stores/pharmacies in Cambodia, irrespective of the cities. As long as you have the name of the actual drug itself as opposed to the brand name.

for example Brand name Symbicort

Ask for the generic name -

Budesonide and fomoterol fumerate Inhalation aerosol.

There are 2 different strengths the 80 mcg and the 160 mcg Budesonide.

This is the example.

ALSO give them the empty drug container of your old OEM version as I think it helps them to check themselves what is printed on it.
