Can you be legally married in Ghana if you are both from the USA?

My husband and I had a ceremony in the United States in 2013 but did not register for a marriage license. Can we be legally married in Ghana? My ancestors on my Mother's side are Ashanti from Ghana. Does that help?

Hello,

Be careful, you are taking the problem the wrong way. Anyone can get married in a foreign country. But that is not why the marriage will be validated in your country or by the embassy. You must undertake the administrative procedures required by your country as well as those of the country in which you wish to get married.

We got married in Ghana and the marriage is recognised in the UK and was also recognised in Hong Kong. We didn't have to perform any further procedures in either country.

I don't care if my marriage is recognized in the USA. I'm not legally married here, just lawfully. This means I had a ceremony and witnesses. I don't feel the need to add to the assets of the US corporation further as I already have a social security number. I want to be legally married in Ghana where my Mother's ancestors are from.

u can do so my dear, live here in ashanti all my life, u can visit the kumasi metropolitan assembly and tell them,they will give more insights, legally do it for u and u will get your marriage certificate,if u need more info,feel free to message me okay,all the best
