Customs with pets

Hello, everyone!

Can someone please explain to me the process of going through customs with pets when you bring them in the cabin with you?  Is there a separate line that we have to go through pre- or post- passport control? Do we have to tell the airlines and/or Ghana government/customs which day and flight number we're arriving for them to make arrangements for our arrival?  What is the procedure of customs like?  I assume we show them our documentation there?  Is there a required quarantine period for the pets?
