It came from Japan this week and it has comprehensive insurance till July 2011

This car I bought it with 7000$ + 1350$ Transportation in container till Djibouti + 2000$ from Djibouti to Addis (including demourage) + 200$ for comprehensive full insurance till next July 2011.
It is almost above 10,500$
And you still saying it is too much.
I know for Ethiopians, you need to wait at least between 4 to 6 month to finalize procedures before importing a car and I am saving this time for you.
Bear in mind when this development tax will be introduced (30%), the price will be higher.
