Moving to Addis Ababa

Good morning,

My name is Alexandra, I am Portuguese and currently living in Vietnam. My husband and I will move to Addis this summer and I would like to have some information regarding this city. I will not start working immediately, probably only in 2014, so I am interested to know how can it be the life in Addis for a non-desperate housewife

I have a license in French language, and for 6 years now I have been a French tutor in Ho Chi Minh City.

As we might send some luggage from Vietnam directly to Addis, and as we can find almost everything here, I would appreciate if someone could tell me what kind of stuff is difficult to find, and this kind of information.
How about Internet connection? I am used to talk with my son almost everyday by Skype, is it possible in Addis? How about medicines? Is it easy to find western medicines? (I have so many questions...)

Je suis Julien, un français expatrié à Addis depuis quelques semaines.

Pour le travail, il y a un lycée français: Lycée Gebre-Maryam
Je sais que ce lycée recherche régulièrement des professeurs.

Pour les bagages et les meubles, il n'est pas nécessaire de faire venir de l'étranger. Ici on peut trouver n'importe quoi, parfois à condition de mettre le prix. Par exemple, le semaine dernière l'achat d'un simple placard made in Ethiopia et d'une d'une table avec 6 chaises aussi made in Ethiopia, j'ai payé 400 euros. Le vrai problème est la mauvaise qualité par rapport en Europe.

Quant à internet, le connection est bien pour les mails, recevoir ou envoyer des fichier assez lourds. Par contre pas possible de regarder des videos genre youtube en HD.
Skype fonctionne très bien, je l'utilise une ou 2 fois par semaine pour communiquer avec ma famille qui est en France.

Pour les médicaments, on peut aussi en trouver les mêmes que en Europe, par contre c'est beaucoup plus coûteux, souvent 20 à 40% de plus.
