I got braces in high school, so my mouth was always sore anyway.

HaileyinHongKong

That didn't come out right.

Yes, having mouth pain is quite common following application of braces. It should become less noticeable over time as your teeth start moving into the desired position.

If you're really bothered by the pain there is a product commonly sold for teething pain in babies, in some countries it is sold under the brand name Orajel, basically what it is; a topical benzocaine liquid which naturally numbs the pain. It's available in almost any drugstore and is really inexpensive. It is good for any kind of mouth pain, toothaches, etc. Its effects are short-lived so you may need to rub a few drops on your gums several times during a day. Always follow the package instructions.

The technology has changed a lot since you had braces.  For one, they don't use dinosaur bones anymore.

And before someone complains, it's ok.  He's Canadian.  If he doesn't laugh, I'll ban myself.

They don't!!! OMG, who knew? Just goes to show ya that you can always learn something new from you young whippersnappers. LOL

Hugs,
James

PS. Hailey's right about us Canadians folks. We start thinking that somebody doesn't like us if they're not poking fun at us. Hailey and I are buds! She reminds me of when I was a little boy (back in prehistory) and I came home from school and proudly announced that a girl in my class was in love with me. My mom asked me how I knew that for sure. My prompt reply was.... "she threw a rock at me!"

Oil of cloves dripped onto the tooth.

You can learn everything from us tykes.  Except how to program the clock on your VCR.  That's too old school for us.

This should be reported for being on-topic.

Holy poop, maybe I'm not so ancient and out of touch after all! I have a DVD player. Now if I can only remember what the heck I did with the remote control........ huuuummmmmmm

HaileyinHongKong

DVD?  That's 20th century.

James

Give me a break, I didn't say that I felt as young as YOU are.... just that maybe since I have a DVD player I'm not still back in the Stone Age, OK?    LOL
